Rumors are coming through stating that on April 16, 1945 the Soviets began to bombard the German capital of Berlin. The German defenses are now really starting to show the signs of breaking. On that same day, half of a million Soviet soldiers laid siege on Berlin.

After the Germans realized that there was no real hope for the saving of the Third Reich, they asked to surrender only to the British and Americans. The Soviets were furious and said that they had to unconditionally surrender on all fronts.

The war is starting to come to a quick conclusion. On April 25, an American Lieutenant crossed the Elbe River near Berlin. After crossing, he bumped into a Soviet soldier. They realized then that the West and East fronts had linked up at last.
