    As the war comes to a close, the future of Poland is very much up in the air. The Soviets are now in control and Stalin has promised free elections in the area. No sign of this yet, but Britain fears that Stalin will take Poland into the Soviet Union A major reason for this fear is that back in 1939, the Soviet Union released a order declaring that all Polish people on Soviet territory were Soviet citizens. The Soviet Union also has not recognized the Polish government-in-exile based in London. The Soviet's appear to be hoping for a Soviet empire that will include Poland.
