Operation Yellow was Hitler's next goal. He ordered the invasion of Netherlands and Belgium. The date of execution was to be November 12. His generals didn't want war with the Western part of Europe yet and planned for the removal. After a ugly scene between Hitler and the commander-in-chief of the army, Hitler postponed the operation.

In January of the next year, the plans for operation Yellow fell into Belgian hands. Hitler didn't care since his naval commander to take over Denmark and Norway. He then order for the Exercise Weser.

Exercise Weser lad to the German Army invading and occupied Denmark, which offered no resistance. German naval units attacked Norwegian ports, while many different paratroopers floated down on their airfields. Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, and Narvik were occupied in surprise invasions, but the Norwegians rallied courageously. An Allied force was heading for Finland when they came to aid Norway. They came in vain however as the German Air Force simply dropped paratroopers where ever they were needed. On June 8, the German forces extinguished the last piece of Norwegian resistance. The government fled to London where they set up a government in exile. War had now started as Britain, France, and Belgium were all ready to defend the West of Europe.
