As Adolf Hitler was sitting in prison for plotting a coup against the government of Germany, he was coming up with plans for his party reorganization. Once Hitler was released from prison, he quickly became the leader of the Nazi Party. The time for climbing the political ladder had happened with the World Economic Crisis of 1930.

Hitler convinced the lower and middle class citizens of Germany that he and the Nazi party where needed to get their standard of living back. In 1930, Hitler showed his political muscle by increasing the Nazi party representatives in the Reichstag from 12 to 107. In 1932, he ran for President against Hindenburg. He polled some 13 million votes but was beaten in second ballot. Hitler was now a force to be reckoned with.

To make matters worse, Chancellor Bruning decided the time was ripe to resign from power. Hitler believed he was the only successor for the seat but was held back by the right-wing movement of the Junkers. They elected Von Papen to the chancellor, who then dissolved the Reichstag and held free elections to beat down the Nazis. The time for Hitler to win had come.

Hitler however doubled the number of seats to 230. The Nazis were now the biggest party in Germany. Von Papen and Hitler struck an agreement and Hitler renounced the Socialist section of the Nazi party while Von Papen convinced Hindenburg to accepted Hitler as Chancellor in 1933.
