The 1950's
People of the 1950's dress differently then they do now. Jeans were not popular. For a boy, switching from short pants to long pants was a symbol and a big step in becoming a man. Girls also dress totally different then we do. Unlike boys, clothing did not mean that they were becoming a woman. The most popular way to dress for young ladies was dresses made of cotton, blouses and cardigan sweaters. The most popular style of them all was, the style you would wear if you dressed like a 50's girl for Halloween. It was the poodle skirt. As you can see, we hardly kept any clothing from the 1950's.
