This is my dad's story. He came from the Dominican Republic. I wrote a short story about him.

My dad immigrated to New York from the Dominican Republic.

He came on May 4, 1974 at the age of nine.
It was hard for him because of the language and climate.
He was used to speaking Spanish  and the climate was hot all year round.
In the Dominican Republic where he came from the clothing wasn't very different, except for the fact that ladies wore a special dress to dance the Merengue.

While he was in high school he worked.  Once he worked in a gasoline station.
Another time he worked in a supermaket.
Now my father is an American citizen.  He has a wonderful family, three kids and a lovely wife.
He is very happy he came to America.  All his dreams came true.

These are some of the architectural plans my father drew.
In the middle is a photo of my father, graduating from high school
Below that photo of my father going back to the Dominican Republic after eight years for a visit.
