Alien Cards

An alien is a person who is not a citizen of the country in which (s)he is living. Legal and social rights of aliens are different in different countries. There are two kinds of alien cards that the United States can recognize. One kind of alien cards are for temporary visitors. That means that they may not travel or accept employment without the U.S Government's permission. But resident aliens live in the United States on a permanent basis. They usually enjoy many of the same rights as citizens, but they cannot vote or hold public offices. They do have special papers giving them government permission to work in the country.
