Schooling: Formal training requirements do not exist for artists, but it is very difficult to become skilled enough to make a living without some basic training. But some keep a portfolio for future events. 


 

 

 

Schooling: Some dancers may become choreographers who create new and original dance routines which they teach to performers and sometimes direct. Dancers/choreographers who teach in public schools must be certified like other teachers. 

 

 

 

Schooling: Musicians need extensive and prolonged training and schooling to acquire necessary skills. This training may be obtained through private study with an accomplished musician or in a college or university. Musicians who teach need to have a state teacher's certificate and a degree in music. If you teach at a college you need advanced degrees.

Salary:According to the US Department of labor weekly earnings of a dancer is $610 and for a choreographer it is $970. If you are interested in becoming an artist you should: Sketch, take after school activities or talk to someone you know who is an artist.  Some colleges have art classes for children. If you are interested in becoming a dancer/choreographer you should:Practice dancing or make your own group and dance in it. Perform in school plays. If you are interested in becoming a musician you should: Try practicing on a instrument or try practicing reading notes. Most schools have a band or an orchestra to participate. If you are interested in being a playwright you should: Try writing your own little play, watch a play and take notes or write down ideas for your own plays.
