Interview:
A Pediatrician
After an interview with Dr. Cook, I learned about how to become a pediatrician,
what it is like to be a pediatrician and if she likes us kids.
First, before we go over the interview, let me give you some back round
information about pediatrician. A pediatrician's salary can range from
$40,000 (when you come out of residency) to over $150,000 (pediatric surgeon).
Most pediatricians need pre-med school and medical school which can last
from 4-12 years. Residency is needed for most pediatricians. It's time
to get started with the interview. Below are the questions and answers
to my interview.
1.
Do you enjoy your job?
Yes, I enjoy getting to watch kids and how they grow up.
2.
What is work like?
Work is very busy in the winter with all of the kids getting colds and
other sicknesses while in the summer it is pretty slow except for the allergy
visits.
3.
Does your job affect your home life?
My job does affect my home life because patients can beep me if the child
is very sick and my job makes me very tired but my husband gives me a lot
of support.
4.
What was medical school/ residency like?
Medical school was very interesting. Residency was scary at first
but it made me more confident.
5.
What do you believe about the future for doctors?
Pediatrics doesn't make as much money as other types of doctors.
People want to move offices to make room for specialty doctors. In
the future I believe that people are going to want to become pediatricians.
