Make Your own Kilt or Dress

Kilts

Materials:

A white sheet

A pair of scissors

A pencil

First you need to get a piece of white cloth about 1 yard by 2 yards.

Second, you need to draw in pencil the basic pattern using the measurements shown above.

Third, you need to cut out the shape.

To wear your kilt, wrap it around your waist and tie the straps in a knot in front of you. To put the final touch, take the longer strap up and over the knot so it covers the knot and hangs in front of the kilt.

Dresses

Materials:

A white sheet

A pair of scissors

A pencil

Sewing machine and straight pins or safety pins

First you need to get a piece of white cloth about 2 yards by 2 yards.

Second, you need to draw in pencil the basic pattern using the measurements shown above.

Third, you need to cut out the rectangular shape of the dress and the two straps.

Wrap the dress around you under your armpits. The dress should be loose. Once it is finished, you will need to be able to put the dress on and take the dress off over your head.

Pin the dress where the two edges meet. Use straight pins if you are going to sew the dress or safety pins if you are not.

Pin the straps to the dress. One strap goes over each shoulder. Use straight pins if you are going to sew the dress or safety pins if you are not. Try to make the safety pins invisible.

If sewing: Sew the dress where you have put your straight pins. Turn the dress inside out and wear.

If not sewing: Put the dress on. It's done!
