Summary: On the night of December 21, 1885, a meteor crashes into the Clabbernog farm and kills Elihu Clabbernog's uncle, the evil sorcerer Jebediah Clabbernog. Elihu despises the magic that Jebediah performed and knows that his uncle's spirit might come after him. To protect himself, Elihu builds a bridge made from the meteor that has hit the farm. The bridge restrains evil spirits from crossing over it. Now that bridge is being torn down, and Lewis and Rose Rita find out Uncle Jonathan is worried the new bridge will let evil pass over it freely. Since Elihu is dead, though, Jebediah no longer has a reason to come after his nephew. However, Uncle Jonathan knows that without the bridge, something worse can happen. A man named Mephistopheles Moote and his wife are determined to make that worse thing happen.
When a certain red meteor comes down to Earth, the Mootes' plan will go into action. Lewis and Rose Rita know that something involving Jebediah Clabbernog will happen, so they go to the Clabbernog farm and find Jebediah's diary. They write an anonymous letter to Uncle Jonathan so he can try to stop the Mootes' plan. Later, Lewis discovers what the Mootes are really doing. The two horrific people are attempting to raise Jebediah Clabbernog from the dead, and back to perfect health. Jebediah's body is under the bridge, but his soul is in a well on the Clabbernog farm. Lewis and Rose Rita are able to get to the Clabbernog farm and get Jebediah's soul. Unfortunately, the same meteor is returning to Earth and will hit Earth soon. When that happens, Jebediah will come back to life. Lewis, however, is able to use a ruby that contains Jebediah's soul, which prevents Jebediah from coming back to life, and the Mootes are defeated.
