A Kid's Life in Poland

The name of my country comes from the Slavic word Polane that means plain or field. Poland is covered with flat plains and rolling hills.

Most of the people in Poland belong to the Roman Catholic religion.

Dzien dobry! Hello! My name is Basha. I live in Lodz, Poland. Poland is a big country in the central part of Europe. It borders on the Baltic Sea.

I am 9 years old. I have 2 older brothers. They are both 12 years old. Like most of the people in my country, I am a Pole. We are descended from Slavic tribes. If you came to visit my country, it would be nice if you spoke Polish since that is our language. I am going to tell you loads about my country.

Number one are the foods we eat here. Personally, my favorite food is a blintz with jam inside and extra powdered sugar on top. By the way, a blintz is basically a rolled up floured pancake with jam or cottage cheese on the inside. My country is famous for pierogis. They are dumplings filled with meat, cabbage, cheese, or mushrooms. I love them, but my brothers don't.

I started school when I was 7 and I will leave school when I am 18. I go to school from September to June. We study geography, math, science, history, English, and Polish. My favorite subject is science. I like to do messy experiments. I also like lunch. I sit with my friends Science Experiment and we talk. My class takes field trips a lot. My favorite pair of clothes is a tie-dye T-shirt and a pair of blue pants. I usually wear a T-shirt and pants to school unless it is winter of course. Then I would wear a turtle-neck! Shirt

One of my favorite things to do is to take a walk in the woods behind our house. Sometimes I can see a lynx, a wildcat, or if I'm really lucky I can see a wolf or a bear. I also like to go to nature reserves and watch the chamois (pronounced SHAM-ee) frolicking around.

I love to play tennis and soccer. There is always a game of soccer going on at recess and a game of basketball. I usually play with my friends or I play soccer.
