Most schools are open Sunday mornings and closed on Wednesday.

Most people in Paris stop at noon for two or more hours, just for lunch! In fact, lunch is usually the main meal of the day and contains three or more courses.  At night people usually eat a light meal around 8:00.

The Eiffel Tower is 1,056 feet  or 320 meters!  That's high!

Most children's bedrooms are their playrooms too.

Map of FranceBonjour (hello)!  My name is Camille Boncour.   I am eight years old and I live in Paris, France.  Did you know that France is the largest country is Europe?  Paris is the capital of France and is also the largest city in my country.

Well, I have to get ready for school. My school starts at 8:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm, with two hours for lunch.  My school is closed on Wednesday and I go to school on Saturday mornings.  Before school I have a quick breakfast of bread, jam, cereal and cocoa.  Sometimes I like to have ham and boiled eggs.  Many French adults have cafe au lait, coffee with hot milk, for breakfast.  On special days we go to the boulangeries, or bakeries, and get yummy tarts or else we go to the patisseries, or pastry shops, for great pastries to eat.  Did you know that in France we consider cooking an art?

After school I do ballet. Hey did you know that ballet was first started in France?  And of course I bet you already know that French is the main language spoken in France.  But you should know that in some areas (especially along the borders) people also speak Breton, German, and Dutch.

The LouvreI love art and that's why I am so lucky to live in Paris, because Paris has a lot of art galleries and stuff like that.  My favorite gallery is the Louvre.  It has many famous paintings like the Mona Lisa by Italian painter Leonardo da Vinci.  Did you know that the Louvre has over eight miles of galleries (forty acres), contains more than a million works of art,  and is found along the bank of the Seine River? You could probably wear out the bottoms of your shoes trying to see everything!

Like most people in France, my religion is Roman Catholic which means that we go to church on many days but especially on Sundays and Christmas Day.  In France, Christmas is called Noel.

In France the weather is different depending on where you live.  In the south the winters are mild and the summers are hot because of the Mediterranean Sea.  In the west, it is cool and it has rainy summers and mild winters.  And in the north, the summers are mild and the winters are cold.  Like most people in France, we like to take our vacations in August because it is hot in the south of France.  We like to visit the Alps, huge mountains that form the border between our country and Italy.

My friend Leah from America is coming tomorrow!  And we have to prepare!  My mom has already made up a bed in our guestroom.  She is dying to see the Eiffel Tower soEiffel Tower we're going to take her to it, and she is so excited.  The Eiffel Tower is a famous Paris landmark and is very, very high. It's about 1,056 feet high, that's about 320 meters!  We are also taking her to a few art galleries.  Like me she loves art.  If there's time, we're taking her to see some sports.  In France people like to watch and play tennis, soccer and rugby.  People here also love to ski.  I started learning to ski when I was five years old.  We're also going to try to take her to the Tour de France bicycle race which is held every year and is very exciting since people come from all over the world. There are two other things we want to take her to.  We want her to see the wax museum  which is called Musee Grevin and the theater which is called The Geode.

My bedroom is also my playroom.  The only rooms in our house are; kitchen, living room, my mom and dad's room, the guest room, and of course my room.Bed

Well, now it's time for me to go up to my room and get some sleep because tomorrow will be very exciting.
