Question What is a good running posture?
Faya You want to keep your shoulders square and you want to keep your hips aligned with your waist. If you're leaning too far forward then you're not going to have the breathing capacity that you need. If you're leaning back too far then your legs are going to get out in front of your waist too much and you're not going to be able to keep an even stride.
Rafferty It's good to keep arm posture also. Keep your arms down at your waist.
Elizabeth When you're going up hills you lean a little bit into the hill but you don't want to totally lean over.
Jenny And bring your arms up just a little.
Faya Your hands shouldn't go anywhere beyond from your chest to your hips. Also, your hands should not be crossing the line of your belly button.
Elizabeth You want to keep your hands sort of loose and in a fist type shape with your thumb on top but not tensed up.
Question What is a good breathing pattern that you would attempt to cycle through?
Faya Distance runners attempt to breathe in their nose and out their mouth...which is difficult to maintain when you have a cold. It does take a long time to get used to doing.
Rafferty It's important to relax your breathing. It needs to be part of the motion. You don't want to spaz too much with the diaphragm
Question How should you hold your arms for sprinting?
Rafferty In sprinting, make sure your arms aren't crossing your body. Sprinters want to keep them more in a straight line, front and back.
Elizabeth And going uphill it's the same thing. You really want to pump the arms as hard as you can.
