Fancy Shawl Dancing Ladies Fancy Shawl Dancing is the newest kind of Lakota dancing. It is the popular dance at powwows. The Ladies Fancy Shawl Dancers have to wear their shawls over their shoulders. They dance by jumping and spinning around, keeping time with the music. They are often called Northern shawl. Their outfit is made out of bright colors. This is very similar in dancing to Men's Fancy Dance. The dances are very pretty at the powwows.
