The Bull Terrier was introduced by mating a Bulldog with the white English Terrier. Later in 1860 it was crossbred with the Spanish Pointer to gain size. When an all white dog was thought to be more attractive, James Hindkes produced it. The white bull terrier became the fashionalbe dog in the early 1900's when sportsmen wanted a dog that was friendly, yet ready for fighting. At this time dog fights were a favorite past time of the wealthy.
