In hockey there are many different positions to play. Some prefer defense. Some offense. There is 6 starting people on the starting lineup. A goalie, two wings(right and left), a center, and two defenders(right and left).

The defenders try to stop the other team from shooting on the goal. The defenders check(push the player with your stick) the other team the most. The defenders can move to the opponents blue line.

The wings try to shot on the goalie. After they pass the middle line they cannot go back across. Right when the game starts the wings have to go right across the middle line. They are the most likly people to get a Hat Trick(which is 3 goals.)

The goalie tries to prevent the other team from scoring a goal. Sometimes the goalie can charge(get out of the goalie box) and score a goal.

The center is like a midfielder soccer. He can go in any area on the rink. He has got to be a good all around player.
