Ancient Egyptians were the first to believe in life after death. Because of this, Egyptians were hired to prepare the body for mummification. Mummification was a process that helped preserve the body. It was a long process, it took about 70 days to make a mummy! It was also a disgusting process too. Here is how they did mummification. First all the organs were removed, and the brain was pulled out with a red hot poker though the nose. The body was then washed in wine or vinegar. After that, the body was packed with natron salt all around. The body was then left to dry for 40 days. After the drying, the body was then stuffed with either linen, leaves, or sawdust. The heart was then put back into place and so were glass eyes to replace the old eyes. The body was then dipped in scented oils, this prevented the skin from drying or cracking. 15 days were spent wrapping the body in linen. In case you were wondering, the organs were placed in cannabic jars.![]()
