Land Features

Japan has a lot of volcanoes. 1,500 earthquakes happen a year. Hot Springs and other things like that are found there. 75% of Japan's land has mountains too steep to live on.

There are only 16% of the islands that are lowlands. They are small too. Major cities grew up on the lowlands, like Tokyo.

Japan has a range of metallic materials, which include chromate, zinc, manganese, copper, and leading gold. It has to import almost all the raw materials for the economy.
