Pink and Say

This story is about an African American boy named Pinkus and a white boy named Say. They both fought in the Civil War for the Union. Pinkus finds Say in a field. He was shot in the leg. Pinkus takes Say to his home where say meets Pinkus’ mother Moe Moe Bay. Moe Moe Bay helps to heal Say’s leg.  While Say was recovering, a bunch of marauders came to rob Moe Moe Bay’s home.  They killed her while she tried to distract the marauders while protecting the boys.  This book is really sad, but at the time really good.  Pink and Say is a true story and keeps you wanting to read more.
