Ben Franklin
There were ten boys and ten girls in the Franklin family. Benjamin was the youngest boy. When he was a little boy his father could not afford to send him to school, so Ben taught himself everything he needed to know. He even taught himself how to read. Benjamin's first invention was the flippers that diveres use today.
He worked for his brother in his printing shop. When he and his brother got into arguments his bigger brother would beat him up. He finally got tired of it and ran away when he was only 17 years old and he got married when he was 24. He could communicate very well because he could speak Latin, French, Spanish, and Italian.
Benjamin discovered that when it's hot you wear light colors because you want to be cool, and when its cool you wear dark colors like black.
I know you are familiar with the stove. Well I'll give you one chance to guess who's invention that was. That's right Benjamin Franklin.
Ben studied storms to discover what caused them. Ben lived for experiments, and his friends loved to watch them.
Ben told everyone that for Christmas he was going to kill a turkey by electric shock. When he was attaching the wires to the bird he was distracted. There was a loud sound, It sounded like a shot from a pistol. There was a spark of fire. Franklin hit the ground as though dead. A bystander yelled, "Where is a doctor?" When Ben got up a while later all he could do was laugh. He meant to kill a turkey, but almost killed himself!
