Maybe you've had a dance party with a great DJ who had an awesome
new turntable. But did you ever wonder how it worked? Well, it all
starts with one question. What type of turntable do you want? There
are three types of turntables; one is the direct drive turntable.
It is controlled by a motor, which is hooked through intricate gears
in the center of the turntable. Next there is a rim drive turntable,
which works when an idler wheel locks against a turntable's inner
rim. The last one is the belt drive-endless. This runs on a belt,
which runs around the motor shaft and the recessed inner rim of
the turntable.
But let's not get off the subject. Here is a very clear explanation
of how a turntable works. First of all, all turntables have needles,
which are at the end of the tone arm. All records have little bumps
or groves in the vinyl. The needle reads the groves as vibrations
come out of the speakers as words. Now you must understand how much
more a turntable can due than a C.D. player. Well, actually as the
days go by, they are getting more similar with the invention of
the Pioneer Digital Vinyl machine, which can almost do as much as
a turntable. These devices are used for playing music and doing
such moves as scratching the CD as it is called
