Wood Roller Coasters came back in the 1930’s after the great depression. The beginning of the decade two roller coasters opened. They are the Georgia Cyclone and the Texas Giant, both opened by Curtis Summers. The Texas Giant is at the top of most roller coasters lists because it is in the top ten. Knott’s Berry Farm’s wooden coaster, Ghost Rider, is on the top of most roller coaster polls. In 1992 a pivotal roller coaster was built called, it can turn around and the car keeps going backwards!! It is only 55 ft high and 2,000 feet long. The top six wood roller coasters are:

1. Comet, Great Escape, NY

2. Phoenix, Knoebel's Grove, PA

3. Boulder Dash, Lake Compounce, CT

4. Blue Streak, Conneaut Lake, PA

5. Raven, Holiday World, IN

6. Cyclone, Coney Island, NY

Coasters based on Ken Denton's Coaster Count.
