The spanish first discovered chocolate. It wasn't the form of chocolate that we know today, it was in the form of cocoa beans. At first the spanish said that it was bitter. They added different ingredients to make it sweet. For a time the cocoa bean was used as a currency.
They roasted the cocoa beans then refined it, they conched it, molded it, cooled it, and inverted it into a candy bar. Some candy bars today are Crunch, Milky Way, m&m's, mars bars, and Hershey's. The U.S. is the world's largest cocoa importer. Two of the main factories in the U.S. include Hershey, and Nestle.
There are more than 2,000 kinds of candy made from chocolate. Because of it's tremendous population, chocolate bars require a seperate classification and can be defined as wrapped candy usually sold in the U.S.A..
