----Hershey's Foods Corporation is the largest producer of chocolate in the United States. Since Hershey's Kisses seem to be the all time chocolate favorite, that is what I'll begin with. In 1907, Hershey's Kisses were first introduced. They were a big hit! From 1907 to 1921 Hershey's Kisses were wrapped by hand. This was very time consuming, and in August of 1921 the Hershey's Kisses wrapping machine was first used. From 1942 until 1949 the number of Hershey's Kisses was reduced greatly due to foil rationing. This didn't stop them from being popular, though, and after the war it was "full steam ahead" with rapid production of Hershey's Kisses. In 1962 they were wrapped in different colored foil for the first time. In September of 1990, Kisses with Almonds were introduced. Some interesting facts about Hershey are: 1. One-and-a-half million pounds of milk, equal to 700,000 quarts. 2. Hershey uses the most almonds out of all companies in the United States. 3. The main storage plant in Hershey, PA holds enough cocoa beans for around 5 1/2 billion Hershey bars. That is a lot of beans!
