Marie Curie

Marie Curie1

Marie Sklodowska Curie was a great female scientist. She was born on November 7, 1867 and died on July 4, 1934. Marie Curie was famous for discovering radium and being the first person, and female, to win two Nobel Prizes.

Marie Salomee Sklodowska had three siblings: two sisters and one brother. Here are their names by age: Zosia, Joseph, and Bronya. Bronya taught Marie the alphabet, and Marie learned it very quickly and was good at it. One day Bronya and Marie were with Mr. and Mrs. Sklodowski and Bronyas reading a lesson to them. It was a really easy lesson but Bronya stumbled over it. Marie had enough with this. She tore the book out of Bronya's hands and started to read every word perfectly. Her parents glared at her and her sister looked mad. Marie cried out, "I'm sorry! It was just so easy, I couldn't help it!" She thought she did wrong learning how to read.
Marie was inspired by her father to learn about science because he was a scientist and the science teacher who taught her.

Marie Curie was the first person in the world to win more than one Nobel Prize. Another thing about Marie Curie is that she survived 27 years without a husband or partner in her life until she died.
