The History of the World Trade Center
from 1974-1993

Many amazing things happened at the World Trade Center. On August 7 1974, a French trapeze artist named Phelippe Petit stretched a cable between Towers 1 and 2. He walked about 7/8 of the way there, then turned around and walked back.

In 1975, A parachutist jumped from the roof of one of the Twin Towers. When King Kong was remade, the director chose the World Trade Center over the Empire State Building. In 1977, a mountain climber climbed to the top of one of the towers.

Many famous people have visited the World Trade Center, which was sadly fully rented out on September 11, 2001. Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli, John Lennon, and Mick Jagger are just a few examples. Minoru Yamasaki once said that he saw the buildings as "a living symbol of man’s devotion to world peace."

Would he ever believe that these peaceful buildings would be used as a start of a war?
