When I heard about the WTC, I got very scared and I started to cry. I went into the hallway for a few minutes. Then I called my mom.

The morning then went by in a blur. I know that a tiny bit of me was happy that I did not have to go to the top floor that day. But I was still very afraid. By the end of lunch, at 11:35, there were about 7 boys and three girls left. By the end of music, 12:25, which is after lunch, the number of children reduced. After Music, just after Language started, I left. I went with my friend Juliana, her sisiter, her sitter and her Mom.

I went to her house. We watched the news for a little while. We heard military planes (though we didn't know they were planes at all) and rushed downstairs. We talked for a while about what happened. I live on the West Side, and my school and Juliana's house are on the East Side. So me, my sister, also in Little Dalton, my Mom, and a few other teachers walked to the West Side through the park because the traffic was so backed up. It was weird when we got home. Most stores were closed. My dad was stuck in New Jersey, where he works.

We had school off on Wednesday. I went to my friend Sophie's house. The wind changed direction and we smelled the smoke. We thought the building was on fire. We ran down 17 steep flights of stairs. It was fine though.

We had a late start at school the next day. We came in 2 hours late, at 10:00. At around 1:30, we had a fire drill. Only, it was not a fire drill. It was a bomb scare. Somebody phoned in and said that there was a bomb in Dalton.

It still feels unreal that there is no more Twin Towers. I don't remember the last time I was there. I do remember that when I was there, I got a compressed penny from the "squash-a-penny"machine. I can't find the penny, which is too bad. I remember the last time I was on the Empire State Building though. It was in 2nd Grade. I wonder how long that will last. September 11th is a day of History.
