States and Regions of the United States
The United States of America is one of the largest countries in the world. It has these cool sights: canyons, hills, valleys, mountains, caves, volcanoes, geysers, deserts, and seashores. This amazing country has grouped regions according to their features. Every state in the Pacific Region touches the Pacific Ocean. Some important features of the Mountain Region are the Rocky Mountains and the Continental Divide. The Plains Region is a flat, wide area in the middle of the country. The Southwest Region is in the southwest area where cacti and deserts are found. Every state in the Great Lakes Region touches at least one of the Great Lakes. The Southeast Region is often called the "Deep South." It ranges from Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains to the Appalachian highlands. The states in the Mid-Atlantic Region were all part of the 13 original colonies. The region is the home of the three United States capital cities: New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The states in the northeastern part of the United States are known as the New England Region.
