    Rhododendrons grow in the rugged mountains of the southeast. These evergreen shrubs make dense, tangled thickets in ravines, along the brooks, and on mountain slopes.  Their big light pink and white blossoms appear in June and July.

    The rosebay rhododendron grows throughout much of West Virginia's hill country and the southern Appalachian Mountains. Rosebay thickets can reach heights of 5,000 feet (1524 meters) .
