Virginia was the first permanent colony.  Eight (8) presidents were born in Virginia (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor, and Woodrow Wilson.)     Virginia fought in World War II.  People in Virginia celebrate The Apple Blossom Festival.

George Washington was the first president of the U.S.A.  He led his troops as a general in the Revolutionary War.  He lived at Mount Vernon where he was a tobacco farmer. 

Thomas Jefferson was vice president for George Washington. He later became the third president.  He was also the writer and a signer of The Declaration of Independence.
