Many Tennessee residents love music. This is the only state with five state songs.  East Tennessee is known for folk music.  Country music is popular in Middle Tennessee.  Residents of West Tennessee supported early blues and rock and roll.  Blues music often expresses sad or unhappy feelings.  It began in the early 1900's.
