Tennessee is in the southeastern United States.  It is a long narrow state that reaches from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River.  Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama are south of Tennessee.  Kentucky and Virginia are to the north. North Carolina is to the east.  Arkansas and Missouri are to the west.
