State Flower

The white blossoms of pasqueflowers are among the first blooms of spring in South Dakota. They are one of the most beautiful spring wildflowers.  They bloom on the old prairies in March and April. Their blossoms huddle close to the ground, nearly hidden in the brown tangles of the prairie grass.
