State History


In 1813 the first coach was built to carry passengers and mail.

Dartmouth College was chartered by King George lll in 1769 for the education of the young Indians.

Daniel Webster, an orator and statesman, was born in Salisbury (now known as Franklin).

The  shoemaking industry began in New Hampshire. It was a major industry after Allen Sawyer established the state's first shoemaking factory at Weare in 1823.

They used gunpowder from 100 barrels  captured from the British at Fort William and Mary and New Castle.

Independence was achieved by New Hampshire of the 13 original. The state adopted a constitution on January 5, 1776, six months before the Declaration of Independence was signed.
