Agriculture


    Cotton, broilers, rice, sugar cane, beef cattle, soybeans, and milk are products of Louisiana.  Louisiana has more than 74,000 farms, ranches, and plantations, covering about 10,000,000 acres.  The farms average about 140 acres in size.  Owners operate over three fourths of them.  Large plantation rely on hired workers, sharecroppers, and tenant farmers to plant and harvest the crops.
