Description: The platypus has brown to yellowish fur. The male is 50-60 centimeters in size. The female is 40-50 centimeters in size. It lives from 10-15 years.
Habitat: It burrows near rivers, streams and lakes of the coastal region off Australia.
Diet: The Platypus eats larvae, shrimp and insects.
# of Young: It has about 3 babies every year.
Enemies: Its enemies are large fish. They use their spurs on the sides of their feet to protect themselves.
Weird and Wild Facts: Platypuses make two burrows one for living and another for hatching babies. The poison is so strong it can kill a dog.
