It took place on June 6, 1944.  This battle was the largest seaborne invasion in history. Troops from the U.S., Britain, France, and Canada stormed ashore on a 60 mile front. By the end of the day all five landing beaches were secure and the Allies had an artificial harbor for unloading more troops and supplies.
