Fourth of July

    My symbol is Fourth of July. The Fourth of July stands for our Independence. (Independence is our freedom.) On the Fourth of July the song "Dixie" was sung, and it was also the South’s favorite song during the Civil War. "Battle hymn of the Republic" was a pop song in the north.   

When we had a war in 1812, Frances Scott Key wrote the "Star Spangled Banner". He wrote it on a boat as he watched the battle nearby.

Later, Grant got a letter that said, ''The best Fourth of July since 1776.''
