The Army History
The army was up and working before the declaration of independence was even written. The U.S army originated on June 14,1775,. the new national army was commanded by general Gorge Washington. the Army was made up of units of soldiers from the individual American colonies. The first soldiers were paid $10 a month. The first army fought 6 years of the Revolutionary war. When the U.S was expanding westward, the army was the ones in charge of exploring and mapping the vast wilderness of North America. Henry Knox served the first secretary of war from 1785 to 1794. In 1802 the army opened the first artillery and engineering school at West Point and that was the beginning of the U.S military academy. In 1861 11 of the southern broke away and formed their very own government. Most of the soldiers from the south got out of the us arm, and to ware the gray uniforms of the new southern government. The 2 "armies" had a one of the most body conflicts in U.S history, and it lasted 4 years. In the war they used balloons to spy on the opposite side. But in the end the real U.S army won. In the army’s history the U.S army went though many very important events The national defense act of 1920 made more changes in the military and its structure. That's what made the Regular Army, the National Guard, and the organized reserves-with each they each shared a part of the burden in the event of war. the training was made the responsibility of the Regular army. Later the Army air and chemical branches were made. the army has now been improved in strength of 190,000 to more than 1.6 million. The Women’s army corps, army in the WORLD.
