| Army Command
The Army commandingship is broken up into
branches. These branches are the Chaplains Corps, Military Intelligence, and Chemical
Corps. The branches that go into battles are called combat arms. The Army is also divided
into administrative groups under the command of a particular office. During wartime,
combat supports the army such as the Corps of Engineers and the Military Police closely
assist the combat arm. The administrative or noncombat support duties are called service
supports arms. The president usually tells the army where to go. In the administrative
groups each soldier is appointed to a group made up ten people, which is usually led by a
sergeant. A platoon, composed of several groups, is under leadership of a lieutenant.
E-1 Private is the lowest ranking in the Army. E-2 Private, known as the PV2, is the next. E-3 Private First class (PFC) is third. E-4 Corporal (CPL) and Specialist (SPC) are fourth. E-5 Sergeant (SGT) is fifth. E-6 Staff Sergeant (SSG) is sixth. E-7 Sergeant First Class (SFC) is seventh. E-8 Master Sergeant (MSG) and First Sergeant (1SG) is eighth. E-9 Sergeant Major (SGM) and Command Sergeant Major (CSM) is ninth E-10 Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA) is tenth. The Commander and Chief is the president who is George Bush right now.
Leadership responsibility increases in the mid-level enlisted ranks. This responsibility formal recognition by use the terms noncommissioned officer and petty officer. An Army sergeant Force staff, and a Marine corporal are considered NCO ranks. |
