Osiris was the Egyptian god of the underworld and of vegetation. He was the brother and husband of Isis. Osiris was shown in human form wrapped up like a mummy. He held a crook and flail. He was usually shown with green skin because of his role as god of vegetation (plants). He wore a crown known as a 'atef' that had a tall conical white crown of Upper Egypt with red plumes on each side. He was the judge of the dead and was considered the great benefactor of humanity because he brought the knowledge of agriculture and civilization to the people. |
