The Book of the Dead was originally written on papyrus rolls. The papyrus rolls were placed in tombs with spells on them to protect and aid the person in the Netherworld(Afterlife). They were also put in tombs to let the person have peace in the Netherworld. Then the papyrus rolls became known as the Egyptian Book of the Dead. The Egyptian Book of the Dead had at least 200 spells. |
