Sand sculpting
is a national event that attracts many people both far and wide.
It is a great way to bring people together and encourage teamwork.
Many people create and showcase their works to the world. With many
sponsers, sand sculpting will continue to live on as one of humankinds
greatest hobbies.
As you may
well know, sand sculptures are made of sand and water and nothing
more. How do they manage to keep the sand together and sculpt it
at the same time? Good question! The truth is, the sand used in
sand sculpting is not ordinary wet sand you would find at the beach.
Companies actually have a special formula for creating special sand
blocks used to carve. First, they put sand and water into a large
wooden box and then they compress it with special pounders, until
it is compacted, dense and strong. They then continue to pile up
the blocks over one anouther until the sand is ready for carving.
People can
carve almost anything out of sand. You can make dioramas of scenes
like police chases or war battles. You can even recreate a scene
from your favorite fairy tale of story.
