At the Brandywine Zoo!

Celebrating the wild in every child

     For 15 fun summers, the Brandywine Zoo has been offering children the chance to spend a week at the Zoo learning about animals, zoos, and wildlife conservation. Zoo Camp offers special weeks designed for specific age groups so kids can enjoy learning about animals with others their own age. Each week is filled with Zoo visits, crafts, animal related games, learning projects and much more! Sessions run one week and kids are invited to one session a summer.
     Campers bring their lunch and drink. All campers must be within the grade level listed at the beginning of the program date. Listed below are the program choices:

mini day camps
Mini Day Camp times: 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Fee:      $65/members         $80/others
A $15 fee will be charged for all cancellations up to April 30.
1/2 refund for cancellations after May 1. No refunds after June 1.

animal adventures
for ages 4 - 6
Mini camp session one: june 10 - 14
Mini camp session two: June 17 - 21

Come discover what it means to be an animal! Traveling, eating, making homes, and having families is the life of a wild animal. We'll spend the week discovering the wonderful world of animals.

mini camp session three: June 24 - 28

From the Anteater to the Zebra ...from the tip of their noses to the end of their tails...animals are different. Come to our NEW mini camp for kindergartners and learn about some Amazing and Zoopendous animals!


summer zoocamp 2002
Camp time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Aftercare is available from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Fee:    $105 for members   $125 others

SESSION ONE: Animal crackers

for kids completing first grade

July 8 - 12

What's a bird?  What's a reptile? What's a mammal? What is an amphibian? How do you tell them apart? Spend a week learning about the different kinds of animals that live at our zoo. Get up close and personal with wild life animals! Have fun playing animal games, creating wonderful works of animal art and visiting animals in their zoo homes.


SESSION TWO : wild places

For kids completing second grade

July 15 - 19

Take a trip around the world while you stay right here at Brandywine Zoo. Learn about wild habitats - some close to home, some far away. Discover the animals that live in different places and why some are habitats are threatened and how you can help.


SESSION THREE : Bouncing back

For kids completing third grade

JULY 22 -26

Investigate endangered species. Become an Eco-detective. Spend a week learning about the world's most rare and interesting animals. Find out how they became endangered and what zoos and aquariums are doing to help save these precious spicies. Learn more about endangered animals through arts, crafts, games, and zoo visits.


SESSION FOUR: Zoo to you!

For kids completing fourth and fifth grades

JULY 29 - august 2

Get an inside look at the wonderful world of zoos and aquariums. Meet zoo keepers and find out what it is like to work with animals all the time.
Discover how zoos take care of exotic animals and how they help save endangered animals from extincion. The week includes guest speakers, zoo visits, art projects, and a chance to design your own zoo exhibit.


session five: the world around us

for kids completing sixth, seventh, or eight grade

august 5 - 9

Join us for a Wildlife Adventure! Have you ever listened to frogs croaking in a pond, birds singing in the wetlands, or tigers roaring in the zoo? Animals are part of the world around us, and we will visit them in their world. Use the knowledge you've learned at the zoo and take it out into the real world as we explore our local wild habitats. We'll travel to a variety of different habitats and learn about what inhabits them and what impact people have on these wild places. Bring your spirit of adventure as we journey to learn about the world around us.
