What is your job at the zoo?
I am the business assistant. I work for
the Zoological Society. The Zoological Society
is a group of people who work to support the zoo. It is responsible for
the education programs at the zoo. I take care of the business files and
handle the paychecks for the Society. This includes keeping track of the
financial information for the new gift shop, Zootique, as well. In
the summer we have 10-20 people working for the Society, and in the winter
we have ten or less workers. Most of the people who work for the Zoological
Society are part time, because in the winter we don't have as many visitors
to the zoo. I also am the membership coordinator for the Society, and I
coordinate the A.D.O.P.T. program.

Do you like your job?
Yes, I do like my job.
Did you need special training for the job?
Before I started working at the zoo, I
worked for New Castle County. I have had to study hard to learn all the
things that need to be done on this job.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Keeping up with everything.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job?
I love seeing everybody at the zoo, and
I like handing out pay checks. On pay day I am everybody's favorite person.
