The Brandywine Zoo's A.D.O.P.T. (Animals Depend On People Too) Program invites individuals, school groups, businesses, civic and service organizations to "adopt" their favorite animal for a year. The "adoption fees" are used to develop animal habitats, and it is tax deductible!
Participants in the Adoption Program receive a certificate of adoption, "I have a friend at the Brandywine Zoo" stickers, a copy of "Zoo News" (the zoo's quarterly newsletter), and their names are displayed on the Honor Roll of Zoo Parents.
Naturally the adoption is for sponsorship purposes only. The animals all stay at the zoo. Because of their popularity, some animals may be adopted by more than one parent. Participants can become a parent for a different animal each year or they may renew their adoption with the same animal as often they wish. An adoption is a wonderful gift idea, too.
In December our class sold a zoo calendar which we made and used the profits to adopt two animals - a cotton top tamarin and a golden lion tamarin. We got a letter and an adoption certificate.
