 Similarities of WWII (Pearl Harbor)
and the Sept. 11, 2001 Attack

December 7, 1942 - Attack on Pearl Harbor

September 11, 2001 - Terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon

Like the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1942, the September 11, 2001 event that occurred on America's soil, once again shook the lives of almost every American citizen. Both these acts were those of hatred towards the U.S. On the 7th of December, a naval base in Hawaii, Pearl Harbor, was bombed. Then on September 11, 2001, 4 airplanes were hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. Because these happenings were caused by other countries, many Americans felt afraid of people from these countries.

During WWII, many Japanese Americans were placed under arrest and sent to
internment camps after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Today, some people fear Muslim and Arabic Americans, and have even threatened and harmed them. But they are all Americans, and like the Japanese-American 442nd Regimental Combat Team of World War II, the Muslims of America want to show their country that they are American.

Troops are being sent to
Afghanistan to search for Taliban members such as Osama bin Laden (suspected terrorist leader), and to try to prevent terrorism. Back during WWII, American soldiers were fighting the Germans, Nazis, the Japanese, and the allies of these countries.
