Turning Prejudice....into Peace
by Chrity W.

Since the September 11th attack, many people have been accusing Arab people, including those who are innocent Arab Americans for the terrible tragedy. How can we stop people from doing this to other innocent people? How can we make people realize that Muslims are innocent? Thinking before speaking would help solve the problem. Instead of just shouting out something that can hurt someone's feelings, think.

There are other ways we can help prevent prejudice. We can make websites or newsletters about antiracism so people can read them and understand that Muslims are innocent people. Students can get together and create projects to help educate others about overwhelming effects of racism. Simple ways such as talking to someone, holding meetings in your community, or even putting up a bulletin board may make a difference in fighting prejudice.

Be creative it could really make a difference. For example, a cluster of students thought of an idea, and creatively formed a group called "Promoting Ethnic and Cultural
Equality", also called PEACE. This group of students invited a speaker known throughout the nation, John Gray. John Gray is an African American. He told the PEACE Group," We are racially prejudiced." More students around the United States want to help stop racism. A school in Michigan created a club called the Howell Diversity Club, made to help stop racism.
