Archaeology

In "Time For Andrew" Drew's parents go to France on an archaeological dig. Later in the book Drew found out that Andrew had become an archaeologist when he grew up.

There have been many great archaeologists in the past. Some of them are: Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon, who found King Tut's tomb. Another famous archaeologist was Sir Arthur Evans and the tiny seals that led him to the Minoan Palace at Knossos. Also the legends of Homer which led Heinrich Schliemann to find the ancient cities of Troy and Mycenae. Archaeology is as important today as it was when these archaeologist made their discoveries so we can study the life of ancient people.

An Archaeologist is someone who studies the life of ancient people. Some things they find are: Dinosaur bones, Ancient tombs, and many different artifacts. Most archaeology is done on the land.

Archaeology isn't always on land though , some searches for our past are performed underwater. Water archaeology is important to find sunken ships and statues, for example the Titanic.

If we didn't have archaeology we wouldn't know about a lot of important things through out the ages of time.
